Hi,

I have just received the following message via my new Facebook group which was established yesterday:

"Hi Robin I live in Tamworth Staffordshire, we are starting a classic car club in the Midlands, we will be holding our meetings at Middleton Hall, Tamworth, we would welcome any of you guys at our meetings, it will be a general transport club cars bikes tractors etc, is there any way I could talk to you on a land line number, all the best Len."

I have asked Len for contact and meeting details and will post them here when I get them.

Regards, Rob.

I don't think putting email addresses on here or any forum is a good idea. Even with restricted access.
My earlier email address was found and accessed somehow and all people on my contacts list received begging letters for a loan of money. Ostensibly from me!
Jim.

Len specifically asked me to put his email address on here, otherwise I wouldn't have. It's a Yahoo address and disposable should any problems arise from it. He probably has several addresses which he uses for more personal affairs - I certainly have.

I detect a certain amount of paranoia here over spam emails. Everybody gets them - it comes with the territory on the web. I get quite a few myself, but just hit the "delete" button without even opening them.

If someone unknown asking for thousands of pounds in loans in my name is "paranoia" then I am guilty!
Like for everyone else, Google and friends make sure I get plenty of spam etc. Which I do not mess with. But my experience was rather different. BEWARE.
I was unaware that Len specifically asked you to post his email. The message you"quoted" did not say that or I would not have posted,
Jim.

Incidentally, this is the second time in the last few days a posting of mine has been duplicated. Not sure what is happening.

No probs Jim. I've never had the ones asking for loans in my name, but as we run a small business and the business email address is displayed on its website, we regularly get the ones asking for assistance in getting $5,000,000 out of some neglected bank account in Burkino Faso, languishing in the Central Bank in the capital Ouagadougou, and offering a 5th of the proceeds for our help in providing our western bank account details for the transfer! If only!

I'm sorry - I should have expressly said that Len's email address was there with his full permission, and I'm grateful for you pointing it out.

Best regards, Rob.

Hi Jim,

Not wishing to hi-jack the thread I just thought I'd mention the duplicated posting - it has happened to me a couple of time. I think it may be because I thought the post didn't 'send' and hit the key again. I'm not good with computers so if I have a problem it is usually traced to me.  That said there may be a glitch - (you see I know all the technical terms:-)

Regards,
Blue
